Transfer Tips
- The transfer degrees allow students to meet all or most lower division general education requirements. Once admitted to a bachelor’s degree program, students can generally expect 90 transferable quarter credits and junior class standing.
- Students transferring without a transfer degree should contact admissions at the transfer institution to determine course equivalencies and transferability of Highline credits. Generally, courses are evaluated on a course-by-course basis.
- Connect with four-year colleges/universities early. Ask about timelines, transfer admissions requirements and major prerequisites. Attend transfer information sessions when offered.
- Create a transfer degree plan with the help of a Highline College Advisor and verify your transfer degree plan with a professional at your college/university. Know the major degree prerequisites and GPA requirements.
- Visit Highline’s Transfer Center for resources, workshops and events.
Faculty Advisors & Advising Center
Highline offers several transfer degree and major-related programs. A crucial element of a successful transfer to a four-year institution is creating and maintaining communication with your faculty advisor. Choosing the right advisor is very important! You should request a faculty advisor that teaches in the area you are pursuing and meet with them before you have earned 30 college credits (100-level and above). The Advising Center is also here to help you succeed.
Foreign Language Requirements
Many Four-year schools have foreign language requirements and graduation requirements and these requirements may vary from school to school. It is very important for students to contact the transfer institution and department of their choice to verify all foreign language requirements and to discuss possible options (if any) for meeting or waiving those requirements.
